Graphing

Set up a starting board, choose drawing tools, and save alternative correct constructions.

What this block does

Graph Construction lets students create a mathematical construction on a board. The configured mode determines which tools the exercise uses: points, lines and segments, circles, curves, geometry, a unit circle, or function graphs.

Set up the board

  1. Insert Graph Construction and write the instructions.
  2. Choose the mode that fits the task.
  3. Configure the starting board and any given objects. Set bounds, grid, axes, and snapping for the problem.
  4. Save a correct solution board. Add alternative solution boards if there are several acceptable constructions.
  5. Set the matching tolerance and choose whether extra objects are ignored.
  6. Set the points. When a Manual Score criterion is present, configure the graph-matching points separately if needed.

Example: two points define a line

Ask students to construct the line through two given points. Include those points on the starting board and save the intended line in a solution board. Check a slightly misplaced answer with your chosen tolerance before assigning the activity. Decide whether extra construction objects should count against the answer.

Grading behavior

Saved solution boards are alternatives: an answer can match any configured solution. An empty solution list disables automatic graph matching. Add a manual score when the construction needs instructor judgment rather than an automatic match.

Troubleshooting

If nothing is automatically graded, check that a solution has been saved. If near-correct constructions fail, inspect the tolerance and snapping. If an otherwise correct construction fails after students add working objects, check the extra-objects setting.
