Our guiding principles.
Taught
We believe the best tools for teaching are built by people who have actually taught. CuraCourse is designed and built by educators. We have run classrooms, written curriculum, and built learning platforms used by millions of students. Every decision we make starts with a question we have asked ourselves at 10pm on a Sunday: would this have helped me, or would it have been one more thing to manage?
Yours
We believe your course is your work, not our content library. That is why you author it, you own it, and you control it. We do not lock you into someone else's textbook, someone else's sequence, or someone else's idea of how your subject should be taught.
Grounded
We believe AI should stay inside your course, not wander off into the open internet. That is why our AI is grounded in the content you write. It follows your material and your sequence, and you decide how much it can do. It helps students think. It does not think for them.
Private
We believe student work belongs to students and their teachers. That is why student data is protected under FERPA and is never used to train AI models.
Honest
We believe learning tools should be judged by how well they work for instructors and students, not by how well they demo. That is why we work with university researchers to test our assumptions in real courses, and why we would rather ship something slower than ship something that only looks like it works.
Independent
We believe in staying true to these principles. That is why CuraCourse is not venture-backed. We are a small business, and we are not optimizing for a valuation or an exit. We answer to the educators and students who use CuraCourse, and we intend to keep it that way.
Who makes CuraCourse?
We are a small team of educators and engineers who have spent our careers in classrooms and in EdTech. We are building the tool we always wanted and never had.
