Custom Activities

Describe it, and it’s in your lesson.

Describe a simulation or practice activity, and CuraAI builds it inside your lesson. No plugins or separate site.

What does it do?

When no standard question fits, build your own, like a simulation students can tweak. It sits inside the lesson, saves each student’s work, and can count toward their grade. Write the code yourself or have CuraAI write it.

Try it as a student

Who is it for?

STEM teachers

Let students manipulate a model before explaining what happened.

CS instructors

Build a visualization of the algorithm you’re teaching.

Curriculum developers

Create a subject-specific activity when a standard question block doesn’t fit.

How do I use it?

  1. Type / in a lesson and add a Custom Activity.
  2. Describe what you want to CuraAI, or write the code yourself.
  3. Try it as a student, then decide whether it’s graded.

How we handle AI and student data

Features

Your HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

Write it yourself in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, or describe it to CuraAI and get a first version to refine.

Progress that stays with the learner

Students pick up where they left off. The activity remembers their settings, answers, and progress.

Exploration or assessment

Use it for open-ended exploration, quick practice scores, or graded answers checked against a key students can’t see.

Test before you teach

Try it as a student first. The debug panel shows any errors and exactly how answers were scored.

Why faculty use it

  • Build the simulation you’ve been sketching on the whiteboard for years.
  • You don’t need a developer or a budget.
  • Students learn by changing inputs and watching what happens.

In a STEM course

A projectile motion simulator with angle and velocity sliders. A sorting algorithm visualizer that steps through each swap. A titration curve students drag to find the equivalence point.

Questions

Do I need to write code?

No. Describe the activity to CuraAI and refine it in conversation. You can always see and edit the code it writes.

Can an activity count toward a grade?

Yes, with all-or-nothing or partial credit. Answer keys can stay hidden from students.

Can I embed an external website?

Yes, with the Embed block. Embedded sites can’t save progress or scores, so use a Custom Activity when you need those.

Works with other tools

Use these together in the same course.
