## At a glance

**Score modifiers** add fixed bonuses or deductions on top of rubric totals for a lesson. Editing them affects all learners on that lesson.

## Prerequisites

- Grading a learner in **Lightning Grader** where modifiers exist on the lesson.

## Steps

1. In grading detail, find the **Score modifiers** section on the rubric sidebar.
2. Click the edit control (**Edit score modifiers**) to open the management dialog.
3. For each modifier, **Edit** type (deduction/bonus), title, points, or optional description—or **Delete** to remove.
4. Save changes; existing scores update according to platform rules.

Modifiers are defined on activity/rubric configuration; the dialog manages lesson-level modifier records tied to blocks.

## Common gotchas

- Deleting a modifier removes it for all students and may unapply it from existing scores.
- Modifiers are separate from manual rubric item scores—check both when reconciling totals.
