## At a glance

Interactive activities can include **rubric** sections with items such as **manual score**, **AI grading**, or **code grading**, depending on block type. Rubrics define how points are awarded per question.

## Prerequisites

- Lesson **edit** mode with gradable activity blocks.

## Steps

1. In the lesson editor, open an activity block that supports grading.
2. Add or expand the **rubric** area on that block.
3. Add rubric items available for that question type—for example:

   - **Manual score** — You or Lightning Grader enter points and feedback.
   - **AI grading** — Automated scoring from model solutions and prompts (where enabled).
   - **Code grading** — Tests against expected output (code activities).
4. Set point values on the block and rubric items as designed for your course.
5. Save the lesson; autograded items run on submission; manual items appear in Lightning Grader.

## Common gotchas

- Not every question type offers every rubric item (e.g. some items are limited to open-response or code blocks).
- Autograde results may still need manual review—check Lightning Grader after due dates.
