# Instant Feedback

> Let students check an activity while they practice.

## What this block does
Instant Feedback connects a **Check Answer** action to an autogradable activity. It awards no points of its own and does not submit the lesson or add a gradebook entry.

## How to use it
1. Insert the activity students should practice and configure its answers or autogradable rubric items.
2. Type **/** and insert **Instant Feedback** nearby.
3. Use **Bind to activity rubric** to choose the activity’s autogradable rubric group.
4. Configure **Limit Number of Checks**, **Cooldown Between Checks (sec)**, and whether feedback appears when scores are hidden.
5. Preview as a learner and test **Check Answer**.

## Which activities can connect?
Built-in checks support choice, select, blanks, categorization, ordering, clickable, code tracing, AI Chat, and graphing questions. Open Response, File Upload, and Code Editor require an autogradable rubric item. Manual-only rubric groups do not appear in the picker.

## Troubleshooting
A rubric group can connect to only one Instant Feedback block. If it is already claimed, use the existing connection. If the source activity or rubric group is deleted, the block shows **No longer connected**. Reconnect it to a valid group. Checks are formative; [lesson submission](https://www.curacourse.com/help/submit-work) is a separate action.
